RoofCoat is a proven water-based acrylic restoration coating that seals and protects your existing roof. RoofCoat forms a flexible, water-tight coating that extends the life of your roof for up to ten years or more.
RoofCoat is designed for asphalt shingle roofs, but is equally suitable for flat roofs, mobile home roofs, shed roofs, etc. Each 5-gallon pail will cover 250 square feet of roof with two coats. So for 1000 square feet, four pails will be enough for two coats. Here's how to measure your roof.

Yes! The second coat is not only critical for properly sealing your roof, but it also evens out the color and texture of your roof for an even, beautiful new look. You’ll find that the second coat goes on much quicker than the first coat.
We estimate that on average, RoofCoat will extend the life of a roof for about ten years. Some factors that may affect this average are proper cleaning and application, extreme weather conditions, etc. But in general, we have found that ten years is what the average homeowner can expect.
You can absolutely change the color of your roof drastically - from either very light to very dark or the opposite. RoofCoat is specially designed to give you the freedom to significantly change the appearance of your home in just a weekend. Many of our customers use RoofCoat on newer roofs for this reason alone.Check out our color chart for some great examples!
It is possible, but we don’t recommend it for a couple reasons: It takes specialized equipment and is more difficult to achieve even coverage, which is important for both the appearance and longevity of your roof. Standard paint sprayers (like what can be rented from your local hardware store) will not work. An industrial sprayer which can pump a minimum of 1 gallon per minute is required. But again, we highly recommend rolling over spraying on the RoofCoat product.
RoofCoat is a water-based product, so clean up is very similar to the clean up required after painting a room. If you have extra RoofCoat product that you want to save, just be sure that the pail is sealed tightly.
